In 2012 Tesla stopped production of the Roadster to concentrate on its new Model S sedan. Which was acclaimed by automotive critics for its performance and design. It came with three different battery options.  Which gave estimated ranges of 235 or 300 miles (379 or 483 km). The battery option with the highest performance gave an acceleration of 0 to 60 miles (96 km) per hour in slightly more than four seconds and a top speed of 130 miles (209 km) per hour.

Why was Tesla created?

Tesla, originally Tesla Motors, started in 2003 when a group of engineers.  Who had a passion for electric cars, wanted to show people that they didn’t need to compromise. When considering buying one. They strived to develop their range of cars that could be, in the company’s words.  “better, quicker, and more fun to drive than gasoline cars

history of the car

This mean-looking sports car came with cutting-edge battery technology and an all-electric powertrain.  The vehicle officially went into production in March of 2008. The Roadster was not only an amazing achievement for such a young company. But also proved to be something no other company had ever succeeded in creating. Tesla had produced an entirely electric car with practical specifications that could meet consumer needs. Albeit at a price few could afford. Many before them had failed because, among other things. They had not been able to produce a battery with enough power to be practical for everyday driving or a cost-effective motor capable of fitting inside a consumer vehicle and accelerating to highway speeds.

Financial troubles hit, and Musk takes the helm

Orders were coming in, with some customers even willing to spend extra to jump to the front of the waiting list. Everything seemed rosy on the surface, but the company was in financial trouble.

The first Roadster model was delivered to Elon Musk and co-founders Eberhard. Tarpenning finally left Tesla entirely. Not long after, in October 2008, Musk took over as CEO of the company and fired 25% of the company’s staff.

The case included allegations of libel and slander, with Eberhard, in particular. Feeling that he had been unfairly blamed for the delays, subsequent financial problems.  Associated with bringing the Roadster to market. The lawsuit was dropped the same year, but the company was still nearly ruined.
